Street artists and skateboarders experience public spaces within a city through the lens of their respective passions. Celebrated artist, Dan “Fauxreel” Bergeron will lead an open discussion on how artists and skateboarders relate to one another and the role of the artist in public spaces. He will use this opportunity to hear feedback on a new public art commission he is working on for the City of Mississauga which focuses on re-animating an existing skate park in the downtown core.

The intention of Behaviour as an urban arts festival is to inspire the vibrant imaginations of youth and ignite the reminisced memories of an older audience. Presenting a world of professional ‘youth talent initiatives’ that includes: music, visual arts, dance, artist performances, local business support through vendor markets and an accurate portrayal of Hip-Hop Culture through collaboration. Since 2009, Behaviour has become an opportunity for reframing stereotypes of urban culture within the suburbs, as well as educating the public on its creative background and positive influence. On May 4 & 5, Behaviour returns! Behaviour's Block Party and specifically its "Pow Wow” will host the essential representation or "Gathering" of urban contemporary and traditional culture in Mississauga. Participants from all walks of life will meet, dance, sing, socialize and honour their indigenous culture, art, style, nations and cities here.

Using swirls of paint, renowned sports artist David Arrigo will capture and celebrate the cultural and sporting history of communities hosting the TORONTO 2015 Games in a series of legacy murals. David Arrigo will not be painting alone; over the next few months he will visit municipalities across the Games footprint and call on local community members to add their personal touch to the canvas and help finish the murals. On July 10, 2013, the Pan Am Mural Experience presented by CIBC, will be unveiled in Mississauga and other venue municipalities across the Games footprint to celebrate the two-year countdown to the Games.

Music Monday is an annual event that brings together thousands of students, musicians, parents and community members across the country to celebrate the gift of music in our lives on the same day at the same time. Mississauga Celebration Square will be “Filling the Skies with Music” with the help of dozens of schools in Peel who will join together to sing “Is Somebody Singing” written by Ed Robertson and Chris Hadfield. With a performance by TorQ Percussion and web streamed greetings from the International Space Station, this event will have more than a few surprises. Come out and be a part of one of the biggest art celebrations across Canada.

Come out to Jam and Slam at the Skateboard Park with host Matt “Lip Balm” Miller, two time Canadian representative at the National Poetry Slam. Five poets will compete where judges will be selected from the audience. This spectacular Rebel 13 closing event will also have several bands providing musical entertainment for the evening.
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Youth, ages 12 – 24 Yrs are invited to make and submit art for REBEL. Art submissions must include at least one focus; youth, peace, love, joy, togetherness, unity and/or Canadian Art. Each participant can only submit one art piece. The art submissions must be your own work (you must own the images depicted) and appropriate (no vulgar or offensive content). Deadline: May 7, 2013
