ViewFinders is the youth arm of the Atlantic Film Festival, offering film and filmmaking activities for youth throughout Atlantic Canada. The ViewFinders Film Challenge, brings young people and film together, creating a launch pad for young talent. See the best of the best in youth filmmaking from across Atlantic Canada from the recent Film Challenges in the Windsor Foundation Lecture Theatre, AGNS. Immediately following the screening, join young filmmakers (all under 20) in a discussion about creativity and filmmaking facilitated by ViewFinders Coordinator, Jeff Parker.
Join young filmmakers and film industry professionals for a number of drop-in film based activities, including Stop Motion Animation Basics and sound for film.

For National Arts Week EcoJustice (a grade eight outdoor education program) is putting on workshops for grades six to eight, which are going to be called Funjucation. These workshops include a puzzle mural, music workshop, canvas painting workshop, a dancing workshop, graffiti style workshop, spoken word art workshop and a face painting will be going on for most of the day. It will be hosted at the Cosmo Civic Center in Confederation, times will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for schools only and 3:00 to 4:00 is for any public who would like to participate, of all ages! On May 4 and 5, 2013 the EyeGO Youth Council present EXTRA-CURRICURAL at MT Space’s Courtyard (141 Whitney Place, Kitchener), celebrating all things youth in the region. The aim of this event is to showcase and highlight opportunities for high school students who want to get involved with their community. The two-day event will feature an evening of variety entertainment, a showcase of youth organisations in the region, and a workshop.

Dancer, choreographer, filmmaker and multimedia producer extraordinaire Simone Maurice joins Clarkson’s local skater community to create unique action movies over two weekends. Learn how to use your digital phone and camera to develop a short narrative film including the fundamentals of script writing and image selection. These final minute long skater flicks created by students will premiere on May 7 at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Simone has produced videos for a range of award winning interactive projects. Her career includes a stint as an on-air dancer and pop culture pundit for Chum Television and key content driver for Gemini award-winning websites includingTasteBudsTV.com and StokedTV.com.

YAP (Youth Anthology Project) will be holding its community fundraising event in order to raise funds for the printing of its anthology. YAP is a community project which is gathering the work of young artists and publishing it in a paperback book. The anthology is a culmination of creative writing, visual art, photography, and graphic design by local young artists aged 14-24 from Kingston and the surrounding area. The event will host live music, live theatre, slam poetry performances, live visual artists creating pieces within a four hour period to be sold, culinary arts for our bake sale, a silent auction of prints of visual art that will be included in the anthology, a raffle of prizes generously donated by local buisnesses, and the sale of YAP merchandise and advanced book order forms for the purchase of the anthology.
